Rural Rides is a volunteer-powered Registered Charity created in response to an ever-growing need in our rural communities for safe, affordable, reliable transportation.
We offer our transportation to our clients and those services have grown from providing transport to and from medical appointments to include transportation to shopping, food bank access, other appointments and even social engagements. We do our very best to accommodate all travel requests, but generally require 48 hours notice.
We invite involvement from all areas of our community, and are actively seeking financial and volunteer support in order to serve clients in our geographical area.
*For our clients who have mobility concerns, we ask that a caregiver accompany them to ensure their safety and the safety of our drivers. To find out more, please contact us.
How Does It Work?
All requests for drives are handled through our office – the clients do not have our volunteer drivers’ phone numbers. All payments for drives are done by billing through the office and volunteers are not required to handle money from the clients.
Our volunteers will pick you up, take you where you need to go, and get you home again – for a fraction of the cost of a taxi, and without you always having to rely on friends, neighbours, or family.
Who do we serve?
Rural Rides Ltd. transports clients from the area west of the City of Moncton and West of the Riverview Town Limits and goes as far west as Anagance. This area includes Salisbury, Petitcodiac, Elgin, Havelock and all areas in between. We will take you outside of that area if that is your destination.
Our clients include non-drivers, elderly, low/fixed income families and the disabled (not wheelchair accessible) who require transportation to and from their rural home in the service area. We are able to provide safe, affordable transportation to those who find themselves in need of drives to doctors, work (on a temporary basis), or appointments.
We are the affordable transportation choice for our rural communities – helping our community members maintain their independence conveniently and easily.
